About the garden

Goosebrook Gardens is located 5 minutes from Akaroa in the Grehan Valley. The garden comprises two acres of newly developed gardens wrapped in the natural beauty of the native bush, the stream and the birdsong. This is a relatively new garden with extensive development opening up enchanted areas of the property. Included on the property is the cottage built in 1860, potting shed, and bathhouse, all adding to the old world charm. We would love you to visit, have a guided tour or meander at your own leisure.

Goosebrook Gardens is also known for its flower fields. We offer DIY wedding flowers, special occasion flowers and just flowers for joy. From buckets full of flowers to just a few stems. We are aligned with a local florist for arrangements. Get in touch to discuss your requirements.

About the gardener

The property was purchased by Julie Whitmore & Brett Tolchard in 2018 and the garden development started in 2024.

The vision was to enhance the property adding to the existing structure in the pursuit of a relaxed, colourful, park-like setting. A space and way of life to be shared and enjoyed by many.

Over the past two years we have worked on transforming the property using sustainable practices. The property includes an orchard, vegetable gardens, rose filled cottage gardens, perennial borders, natives and of course the rare breed chooks and geese.

All nestled in a curve of the Grehan Stream and sheltered by the steep valley sides.

Plan Your Visit

Goosebrook Gardens is open to the public on selected weekends and by appointment between November and April. Please contact us to make a booking, phone Julie on 027 295 9260, or, email goosebrookgardens@gmail.com.
